Grass

Photographs in which grass is an important part of the image.

Even in its most ragged, weedy state, there is something deeply pleasing in its form. Whereas ‘picturesque’ photography idealises the landscape in a way that feels disconnected from reality, smoothing over the rawness and the imperfections, these images - in the main - aim to explore the overlooked and the everyday, capturing landscapes where man-made and natural elements overlap, where grass grows through cracks in concrete, or stands stubbornly in forgotten patches of land. This is an attempt to reveal a more grounded, authentic view of the world - one that acknowledges beauty, but not at the cost of honesty.

Occasionally, I’ll capture a photograph that, at first glance, may seem to align with the picturesque, but I am always seeking more; fleeting moments that hint at something larger, evoking a sense of transience, of time passing, and of our connection to something greater than ourselves. They are attempts to convey the deeper, often elusive, truths embedded in our everyday surroundings.
