A boat propellor stirs up the seabed (video 00:36)
In June 2013, we took a day-boat to Sedir Island, also known as Cleopatra Island. After some time exploring the island, the boat readied for the journey back. As it turned for home, its propellor churned up the shallow, sandy seabed, creating a dramatic contrast between the sandy and the clear seawater.
Cleopatra Island is a small island in the Gulf of Gökova in the southwestern Aegean Sea off the coast of Ula, Turkey. According to legend, Anthony and Cleopatra swam here and the sands were brought by ships from North Africa. It has been said that this type of sand can only be found in Egypt.
