Water pouring out (video 00:14)
This is going on right now. They're changing all the water pipes in our street but the water main has broken outside the house. The effect is of a nice, calming, babbling brook - as long as you don't look out the window at the muddy reality.
It's unrelated to the recent flooding across large areas of Britain and the water company is upgrading the old Victorian lead water supply the houses in my street to modern plastic.
Water has been bubbling out of the ground for the last four days, with intermittent attempts by the water guys to bodge/fix it.
